Misfire Records

Misfire Records started in 2005 when my friends in Magrudergrind needed a label to put out their split with A Warm Gun. At the time, I was roomates with Chris, the drummer and he mentioned it to me that I should put it out, because I had been talking about wanting to start a label for some time. Since then, the rest is history. I have never really had any goals with the label. I don't really care about becoming a huge label in punk/hardcore, I just want to put out music that I like while providing as much of a service to the bands as I can. Also, I know that this isn't a very good, "business strategy" but I don't have a focus for one type of punk/hardcore/thrash to put out. I put out what I can genuinely get behind and like. I don't put out any weak shit, though.
The label is funded and run soley by me. I'm 21 years old, go to the University of Maryland, and have been going to shows in DC since I was 14. The first hardcore band I ever saw was Crispus Attucks. I was blown away by their intensity, rawness, and anger. Their radical connection to skateboarding certainly didn't turn me away either. A year later when my sophmore year of high school was coming to a close, I started a band called, Griptape. Ever since then, I have been actively participating in the DC Hardcore/Punk scene. I just like being active and taking on lots of projects. Misfire is just one of them.
